Chapter 95 Her Brother's Sacrifice

IvoryHills City.

The closer they got, the farther apart they became.

Clyde didn't like the idea of moving back to the Villa,

But thanks to his mother, Violet became adamant to leave the mansion.

In the mansion, he could do most things he wouldn't be able to do if they lived alone.

His grandfather's support.

The fact that she couldn't live in any other room except his,

And the fact that they must always stick with each other.

However, his mother had to spoil everything.

He rarely saw Violet these days.

She'd taken over the guestroom downstairs, sharing it with her best friend.

She was only ever in his proximity whenever Mimi was present.

And then, she would be gone.

If she wasn't locking herself up in the room, she would be busy hanging out with her best friend in the Villa’s garden.

The fact that he had to come to work every morning and return in the evening wasn't helping matters either.

If they went on like this, would they ever patch things up?

Would they go back to the way they'd always been again?

Would Violet love him the way she used to?

Time was running out.

He only had two weeks left.

After that, Violet could disappear from his life forever.

He never wanted to consider that possibility, but every one of her actions pointed towards that.

Would he let that happen?

Staring at the divorce papers in his hand, Clyde had the urge to rip it to pieces.

But then, he couldn't do that yet. Violet could find out and that might only worsen things.

However, he seriously hoped the divorce papers never existed.

“Hello, Buddy. Seems I've come at the right moment.” Without knocking, Harry walked into his office. “Care to share what's bugging your mind?”

Clyde turned away from the floor-to-ceiling window.

He dropped the divorce papers inside the drawer and closed it.

“My house isn't enough. Now you're invading my office.” He sat on his swivel chair, throwing the guy a hard look.

If it hadn't been because of Harry, he would have devised a way to send Violet’s best friend back.

Then he and Violet would have some privacy.

Maybe without her best friend around, she'd feel so lonely that she wouldn't be able to ignore him.

“Come on, I only have two weeks left to spend with her.” Harry shrugged. “At least that's what she says. You don't expect me not to cherish these few days that remain, do you?”

Two weeks!

How he hated those words.

“I don't know why she'll only spend two more weeks though,” Harry murmured. “I'll ask your wife to convince her to stay a little longer.”

Harry didn't know but Violet also planned to leave after two weeks.

Clyde wasn't going to reveal that to the guy.

He never wanted anyone to know what was actually going on between him and Violet.

Who knew whom Harry might tell, and who knew if the words could get to his grandfather's ears?

He sighed, wiping his face.

“If you don't tell me what's bothering you, there's no way I can help you solve it.” Harry clicked his tongue. “Lemme guess. Family problems. Back at the mansion, I heard the servants gossiping that your Mum hates your wife. Is she asking for a divorce?”

Clyde didn't know what to say as Harry was almost correct.

However, Violet wasn't asking for a divorce because his mother hated her.

She thought he cheated.

She didn't even want to listen to his reasoning.

He didn't blame her that she thought he was lying, after all, who would believe that someone like him would get manipulated by Cora?

Speak about the devil.

The sound of high heels echoed. He didn't need to guess who was about to walk inside.

Cora didn't knock before sauntering into his office.

Her provocative clothes irritated him, and anger surged inside him.

“Oh my gosh, your expression looks horrible.” She trotted forward, putting on a concerned look. “Did anyone get on your nerves? Who upset you?”

“Get out!” Clyde rose to his feet.

Should he send her to jail first before she stopped bothering him?

Should he disfigure her first?

“I- I… what's with that attitude?” Cora sighed and dropped the documents folder in her hands. “I have only brought this because they need your signature.”

Clyde glanced at the financial reports. “Don't you know how to contact my assistant?”

“You sent him on a business trip, remember?” Cora stared at him.

“You could wait until he returns.” Clyde wasn't buying it.

She was only here to cause trouble. The sight of her alone irritated him.

Why was she so stubborn?

“I couldn't because I need your signatures now.” Cora groaned. “Since I've already brought them, won't you sign them? Clyde, save me some face.”

Clyde snatched the documents and zapped his signatures on them.

He tossed them back at her. “Never come back to my office.”

“Hmph!” Cora grabbed the documents and stomped out of the office.

Tension hung in the air.

Clyde unclenched his fists, his once-dampened mood turning worse.

If only he could throw her out of this company easily.

“Dude, what's going on?” Harry stood up, looking confused. “Is there some kind of feud between you and Cora? She's Dave's Little Sis, remember?”

And it was only because of Dave that Clyde spared her life.

It was only because of him that he tolerated her.

“Take it easy, Bro.” Harry sighed. “Her brother has done a lot for us. We wouldn't still be alive if not for his sacrifice. The least you can do is not bully his little sister.”

But Cora was grating on his nerves.

She was threatening his happiness and her goal was obvious.

She wouldn't leave him alone until she destroyed his marriage.

Should he keep on tolerating her because of her brother?

Because of Cora, he'd almost lost Violet.

Clyde supported his forehead with both hands, hoping to curb his headache.

But the door opened again.

Did Cora return?

He looked up, about to snap- but then, he couldn't believe his eyes.

Violet came in, knocking the air out of him.
