I Married My Ex-fiance’s Father
Chapter 10.
Chapter 10
Fredrick drove me to my parents’ house two hours later, and luckily, Mum wasn't at home.
That was such a relief,
She would have treated Fredrick so badly, and I don't like it.
After Frederick and my Dad exchanged pleasantries, he kissed me goodbye and left.
He would come pick me up later, that was what he said before leaving.
“Blair?”
Dad called, staring at me as if he was seeing me for the first time in his life.
“You have changed a lot.”
He said.
But I don't think so.
I am still me,
And nothing has changed in my body.
I didn't add weight because I am on a diet.
“How, Dad?”
He sighed and sat down on the sofa.
“You never cared to call us.”
Pfft.
Did they also call me?
“You know what? You just remind me, Dad.”
I sat beside him.
“You guys never called me either, and none of you cared to visit me.”
“We can't do that, you know.”
Why?
Am I not his favorite child anymore?
“We heard you guys live in the same house with Harris.”
So?
“It is such a shame that you married his Dad, and if we visit you and bump into each other, how do you want us to look at Harris?”
Hello!!
What is he saying?
Wasn't it Harris who first dumped me?
Besides, I didn't know the man I had a one-night stand with was Harris's Dad.
“Dad, Harris betrayed me and called off the wedding. How is that your fault?”
He sighed.
“You won't understand, Blair. People are saying a lot about this family and your husband's family. They have no idea what happened, and they are all blaming us for allowing you to marry your ex-fianceé father.”
Like seriously?
Things like that don't disturb me because I know people would keep on talking about it until another family makes a mistake.
Is it because it isn't on the news that Harris dumped me?
Pffft.
Who cares?
“Thank goodness you can now talk to your daughter.”
Arrgg!
“Talk some sense into her head, honey.”
This woman is back.
Gosh!
“You know what? You are divorcing that man!”
What!
I can't,
Not that I love him,
But I am not done with Harris and Jessy.
“I can't divorce my husband, he didn't do anything wrong.”
“Can't you understand, Blair? You are staying in the same house with Harris and his Dad, people are talking a lot about it.”
“I don't care what people say!”
Mum got angry and slapped me.
“You idiot! You are still a kid, that is why you don't know the impact of this!”
She snapped.
“You are getting a divorce whether you like it or not!”
I won't, at least not now.
“Darling, you shouldn't have slapped her.”
Now he has the mouth to talk?
These people are giving me a surprise.
What is wrong with marrying my ex-fiancée's father?
It would have been bad if I were the one who called off the wedding because I wanted to marry Fredrick.
“That dick cheated on me yet, you guys blame me for marrying his father.”
I cried out.
“You know what? I am out of here!”
It isn't their fault, it is mine for visiting them.
I picked up my handbag and stormed out of the apartment.
I will never step my foot into this house again.
If they don't care about me, then I shouldn't care about them either.
“Ma’am Blair? Are you alright?”
The security guard at the gate asked when he saw me wiping the tears on my face.
“I am fine, open the gate.”
I said.
“Are you leaving like this?”
“Yes.”
He opened the gate and I stepped out.
As soon as I was out of the house, I recalled that Frederick said he would come pick me up later.
I think I should give him a call and wait for him at the bus stop.
I brought out my phone from the bag and entered my contact list.
I was so focused on the phone that I didn't know a car was driving ahead of me.
It didn't hunk,
And when it did,
I got so startled and fell.
Luckily, the car didn't hit me,
But it scared me to death.
“Little dove?”
Oh, it's Frederick.
“I am so sorry, I didn't know there was a person ahead of me.”
He helped me get up from the ground.
What brought him back?
I haven't even called him yet.
“I was so worried about you that was why I decided to turn back to see how you are doing.”
“What happened to you? Have you been crying?”
He cupped my face in his palms,
But I smiled at him,
“No, I didn't. Why would I cry?”
I scoffed.
“Tell me the truth, dove. You also left your parents’ house without calling me to come pick you up. What happened back there?”
I can't tell him what my mum said, right?
What if he agrees with her and divorces me now?
No,
I don't want that to happen now.
“Talk to me.”
He shook my shoulders.
Tears streamed down my face and I buried my head on his chest.
“Baby, my Mum wants me to divorce you.”
“What?”
He pulled my head from his chest, holding my face in his palms.
“Why?”
His face became so red and I could see fear in his eyes.
“Because…”
Wait!
Fredrick doesn't know Harris was my Fianceé,
I can't tell him that,
Never.
“She said you are old enough to be my Dad.”
He exhaled and pinned my head on his chest.
“I don't want to divorce you, baby, I…I…”
Just say it, Blair, it doesn't imply you mean it.
“I love you.”
His heartbeat increased and he lifted my chin and kissed me.
“I love you the most,”
He kissed my lips again and held my wrist.
“Let's go.”
I thought he meant our home,
But he took me back to my parents, scaring me off.
“Mrs. Reece, Blair, and I love each other. And even though I have a son who is older than Blair, it doesn't mean I can not marry her. She is my wife and I will decide whether to divorce her or not. So please, do not say things like that again.”
Wow!
The first person to make my Mum go speechless.
And before Mum would say anything about Harris, Fredrick and I had already left.
