I Married My Ex-fiance’s Father

Chapter 52.

Chapter 52

Chapter 52.

“Mrs. Frederick, we have encountered a huge problem. The trailers transporting oil to the neighboring city were involved in an accident, and they caught fire.”

The phone slipped out of my hand, shattering into pieces.

My heart started palpitating, and beads of sweat gathered on my face.

Even though the air conditioner was on, the room was so burning as if the room were on fire.

Five trailers, each conveying one million liters of oil have caught fire.

What!

That has never happened to me before.

“Blair?”

Frederick shook me vigorously until I was back to my senses.

I didn't know when I fell into his embrace, crying loudly.

“What should I do?”

I cried out, gripping his shirt as if he were the one who caused the damage.

“This is strange,”

He said.

“But you have to calm down first, okay.”

He cupped my face in his palms.

“Listen to me, he said.”

“Get a hold of yourself so we can think of the way forward. Those trailers can never get into an accident just like that. Someone is behind it and we must fish out whoever it is.”

Wait a second,

That rings a bell.

A few days ago, Harris and I got into a heated argument, and he threatened to make me lose all that I have possessed.

Harris was behind that, right?

“Baby, I…”

The news came on, shattering my heart.

‘Mrs. Blair Frederick’s careless leadership caused the accident, 'said one of the drivers of the trailer before he passed away. Furthermore, he disclosed to us that he privately had a conversation with her about the risk of driving the faulty trailers, but she shoved him away and forced them to drive it that way.’

What!

I swear that was a lie.

No one came to talk to me about the trailers having any fault.

And I remember asking my assistant if the trailers were good and he said yes.

What on earth is that on the news?

And why are they doing this?

If they really got the information from the driver, then they should reveal the evidence.

“This is bullshit!”

Frederick cursed.

“These people are looking for trouble!”

He thundered.

‘And here is the evidence.’

They played a video of a man drenched in his own blood saying what they had just said.

I don't remember talking to someone who looks like that,

And I don't remember seeing that dude among my employees even though his face was covered in blood.

This looks so suspicious and I swear, someone staged all this.

Frederick turned off the TV, ranting angrily.

“This isn't a new thing among business people. Do you see how you have ascended in a span of four months? That is how our rivals have increased. Do not worry, little dove. I will fish out the idiot behind this after the investigation.”

I can swear this is Harris's doing,

But Frederick can't be wrong.

He has been in business for decades now, and he knows everything about it.

“Sit here.”

He sat me down on the bed, left the room, and returned with a glass of cold water.

“Take this and free your mind of worry. You have me, and I promise to take care of this.”

Before Frrderick would leave the house, he told me not to turn on the tv or even watch the news on the phone.

And I didn't do any of it because he was right when he said it would affect me mentally, and would cause harm to the baby.

So I tried as hard as I could not to think about anything.

However, it wasn't long before they flowed back into my head.

It is so impossible not to think about it.

I didn't only lose billions of dollars, but my reputation is also at stake.

“Blair?”

Kylie barged inside the room panting.

Seeing her triggered my tear gland.

“Are you alright?”

She wrapped her arms around me, hugging me tightly.

“I know nothing about Business, but Daddy sent me here to tell you it will be okay. He said this was staged by your business rivals, and he will fish them out.”

Thank goodness my Dad is stepping up too.

I know Frederick alone can handle this, but with my Dad again, they will tackle this issue effortlessly.

“I am so scared, Kylie.”

I couldn't hide it.

It scares me that someone would go to this length just because they are jealous of my progress.

Can't they also try as much as they can to climb to the top?

“They only want to bring you down, sis. Do not allow this to overwhelm you.”

True,

But I just can't help it.

What if they succeed in tarnishing my reputation?

Then my customers will be scared to patronize my company.

Kpa! Kpa! Kpa!

A heavy knock came from the door.

Both Kylie and I were startled to the marrow with that loud sound.

Who could it be?

“I will go check.”

Kylie said, getting up from the bench.

But before she could reach the door, the door was slammed open and Jessy barged in.

“You murderer!”

She yelled.

“My sister is not a murderer, you fool!”

Kylie snapped at her angrily.

“Get out of my way, you tiny ant. I will deal with you later when I am done with your sister!”

Kylie angrily pushed her to the floor, and when Jessy tried retaliating, I intercepted.

“What is wrong with you, Jessy? What do you want!”

She gets up,

She headed towards the door and made a sign with her hand.

She turned around with a mischievous smirk and folded her arms.

While I was trying to understand what she was doing, four cops barged inside the room each carrying a gun.

“That is the murderer you are looking for.”

What!

“Mrs. Frederick, you are under arrest for causing the lives of many.”

Am I dreaming right now or what?

“No one takes my sister away!”

Kylie blocked the way, crying.

“If you don't get out of the way, young lady, I will release the trigger!”

One of them threatened.

But Kylie didn't leave the way and she was kicked out by one of the officers.

“Take her away!”

The commander yelled and four of them handcuffed me.

This is a dream, right?

Outside, there were many of them lined up from the living room, down to the stairs, in the living room downstairs, and scattered outside the apartment.

A battalion of them came to arrest me for what I didn't do?

“Mrs. Frederick, what do you have to say about this?”

A group of paparazzi came over too?

Where is Frederick?

“Get Frederick!”

I screamed as I was shoved inside the car.
