Chapter 58.

~HARRIS~

Jessy was speaking on the phone when I entered the room. The seriousness on her face showed that the conversation was important.

Sitting down on the stool, still facing her, I crossed my legs, recollecting what Blair and I had discussed earlier.

That company has been on my mind for so long now, and this could be the greatest opportunity I have been waiting for.

Declining to do what she wants will cost me that company, and I never want that to happen.

Needless to say, Jessy’s marriage to me has only been a thorn in my path.

Nothing good has come my way anymore, and the relationship between Dad and me has tarnished.

Now is the time to make things right, with Dad, of course, not with Blair.

Pfft.

Who is she for me to make things right with?

Even on my deathbed, I don't think I will ever apologize for what transpired between us.

She was the fool who believed I would end up marrying her.

“What is it?”

Jessy’s voice broke me out of my reverie.

I peeked at her, chuckled, and dropped my leg down.

“This.”

I waved the paper on her face, observing the disarray on her face.

Her brows wrinkled into a frown, and she glared at me, her eyes turning red from outrage.

“What does this mean?”

She seized the paper in my hand, went through it and a gasp escaped her lips.

She looked at me, jaw dropped.

“Harris?”

She called like someone who has just been crossed.

“What is the meaning of this?”

Isn't it written boldly for her to comprehend?

Must I explain everything to her?

And my signature is there, she knows it.

“Divorce.”

The paper fell from her hand, eyes broadening in amazement.

A thousand questions ran through her mind, but she couldn't utter a word even though her lips were parted as if she wanted to talk.

“Sign it, Jessy, I am done with this marriage.”

I retrieved the paper from the floor and dropped it on the table.

“A divorce?”

She finally spoke, her voice cracking.

The next second, tears began to drift down her face, washing down the black eyeliner painted on her lashes.

“Yes.”

It breaks my heart, but there is nothing I can do.

I love material things more than her,

And if severing the ties between us would give me what I want, then it'd better be.

After all, there is nothing I have benefited from Dad since I married her.

“Harris? Why?”

Uhn?

Why?

Must I inform her of the reason?

Absolutely not.

If I do, she would look down on me.

“Is it because of Blair?”

Of course, baby,

“It isn't to win back her heart, but to get what I want.”

She gasped, wiping the tears stained in the black mascara.

“Blair ordered you to divorce me?”

Getting up from the stool, I picked the paper from the table and waved it in her face.

“I ain't here to answer any unnecessary question, just sign this and leave my house.”

She sniffled, grabbed the paper from me, and signed it.

The moment she dropped the pen, my lungs relaxed.

Now I am a free man who can do anything without having a setback.

“You will regret this, Harris,”

She threw the paper at me.

“And guess what? It will be too late for you when you realize you have been fooled.”

Whatabsurdity.

No one can trick me,

And if that is what her little mind is reading to her, then she should snap back to reality.

She didn't pack much, she only took her handbag and stormed out of the room.

Now the company belongs to me.

Quickly, I left the room to show the paper to Blair.

She too will be so happy today, the way I am.

I softly knocked on the door, and as if she were waiting for me, she pulled it back.

“You are back.”

A smile curve on her face.

Gosh!

I missed those soft lips.

If only I were fortunate enough to kiss them again.

However, that isn't what's important right now.

“I did what you asked me to, now hand over the paper.”

She looked at my hand, then stretched out her hand.

“Let’s have it.”

She wants to be sure?

Okay.

I gave the paper to her,

And as soon as she saw Jessy’s signature, her face brightened.

“Wow!”

She exclaimed, giggling in delight.

“Finally!”

She laughed softly, staring at the paper as if it were a gift bestowed upon her.

“Finally what?”

I asked after my patience had reached its limit.

She is wasting my time.

“I’ve got my revenge.”

She grinned in mischief.

Mtss.

What on earth is she talking about?

“Just give me the papers so I can go. I don't want Dad to return right now, and find me here.”

He would shatter the whole thing when he learns that Blair would hand over the company to me.

“Harris, I have been waiting for this day for a year and a few months now,”

She exhaled deeply.

“Now my dreams have come true.”

What nonsense dream?

“Look here, Blair, I am not here to have fun, just give me what I want!”

I yelled at her, but quickly apologized.

Who knows if it might provoke her and make her change her mind?

God forbid.

“Harris, dear. You and Jessy thought you would betray me and go Scot-free? Of course not.

I vowed to sever the tie between you two, and I have done that.

Now, leave here because that company will never get into your filthy hands.”

Is she serious right now?

No, she must be out of her mind.

She can't just push me to divorce Jessy, and then refuse me the company,

“Now go!”

She slammed the door in my face and went ahead to lock it inside.

What!

Have I just been deceived?

After all I have done?

OMG!

Now that I look at it, Jessy was correct.

Blair was using me, and she has gotten what she wants.

I swear, I won't let her go like this.

After all I went through to obtain that company?

I even went as far as causing that accident just to have her arrested and the company seized from her.
