Chapter 29

Some young ladies and lads who were passionate about acting were already going on with their audition in to the department too.

And the only person everyone wanted to see was Vivienne Montague.

Sterling too was Adamant to see her. He has been sleeping with her thought since the day he introduced the department.

He didn’t know if she would accept to work with his company because she was a popular actress and the people loves her.

But then, he thought again that why wouldn’t she accept his offer? After all, she want to come back to the industry but was rejected.

And now that he went extract miles to create one because of her, she would be more than willing to work with him.

He dropped the pen in his hand on the desk, picked his phone from the right corner and sent a message to Assistant Mike.

Before he could put down the phone, Assistant Mike showed up in his office.

“Good day Mr. Hawthorn, you called.” he bowed his head.

Sterling nodded his head. He stood up from the swivel chair, walked over to the large glass window and stood there with hands in his pocket.

Assistant Mike didn’t take a second of his gaze away from him, not wanting to miss any of the signals he would give him.

“Mr. Hawthorn, do you want me to do anything for you? Is it about the new department?”

Sterling turned around, he nodded his head and gestured with his finger to Assistant Mike to bring something.

Assistant Mike understood what he wanted him to bring after mentioning the department.

“Right away, Mr. Hawthorn.” He bowed his head again and scurried out of office.

Sterling went back to his chair, Swirling around waiting for Assistant Mike to show up again with what he want.

Assistant Mike hurried down the hallway, entered the elevator and pressed the number to the new department.

After the elevator came to a stop, he stepped out, waving to the greetings he was receiving from the new staffs and the people doing their audition.

He went straight inside Marcus office but found him speaking on the phone.

“Mr. Marcus, we need to talk.” Assistant Mike announced because he didn’t have any moment to waste in waiting for Marcus to be done with his call before passing the order to him.

Marcus ignored him. That call was important to him and dropping it wouldn’t turn out well for him from the person he was speaking with.

Assistant Mike sighed inside but remained calm. But deep inside his mind, he knew he was going to lose it if Marcus doesn’t drop the phone to hear him out.

As if Marcus understood what Mike was having in his mind, he took an excuse from the person in the other end and dropped his phone.

“Assistant Mike, what can I do for you?” Marcus asked, sitting on his chair like a king.

Well, he now feels like a king because he has been given the position that not everyone would be given.

“Mr. Marcus, you need to get this before I deliver the message I was sent.” Assistant Mike stepped forward.

“When you see Assistant Li or I in this office, know that we are here from Mr. Hawthorn’s office. And whatever it is you are doing, must be stopped.” Assistant Mike corrected.

But that didn’t move Marcus. Why would he drop his important call or stop doing anything important because he’s in the office?

No way. Unless Sterling was the one to show up on his office, then he won’t stop whatever he is doing because of those assistants.

“I heard you, Assistant Mike. Go on with the order you are carrying.” He gestured with a pen.

Assistant Mike didn’t like the way Marcus was acting even though he mentioned Mr. Hawthorn’s name. Maybe it’s because Marcus was new in the company and didn’t know how things go.

The other heads of departments would jump on their feet whenever they heard that Mr. Hawthorn sent them there.

But he ignored Marcus for that. He’ll teach him things gradually.

“Can I hear what you want to say, Assistant Mike? As you know, I have a lot of work to do,” Marcus interrupted.

“Mr. Hawthorn wants you to arrange a meeting with the actress. I mean Vivienne Montague.” He delivered the message.

“Okay then, I’ll create time for that when I’m less busy.” He picked up a pen and started signing the document in front of him.

“You can’t create time when you are not busy, you should do it now, Mr. Marcus. Didn’t you hear who I said wants to see Vivienne?”

Marcus sighed. He already heard that and he meant what he said.

Why must he drop what he’s doing because it’s Mr. Hawthorn that wants him to bring Vivienne?

“Assistant Mike, I heard you. And as you can see, I’m quiet busy right now and I’ll like it if you can leave.” He pointed at the door.

After Sterling, his assistants were the next people that the people working in that company fear and respect a lot.

They didn’t want to get on their bad side because that means losing their job.

But Marcus right here isn’t scared of losing his new job I guess.

“You have no idea what you are doing, Marcus. I don’t think you will last in here.”

Assistant Mike shook his head before leaving the department.

He wasn’t happy with the way Marcus took the order. And if he tell if to Sterling how Marcus acted, then it would be an end for Marcus.

He returned back to Sterling’s office, told him Marcus was working on it and left again.

Sterling thought Marcus was going to bring Vivienne over to the company that day before they close but he didn’t.

Instead, he went home directly without even branching to Sterling’s office to tell him he got his instruction.

Sterling didn’t mind, he gave him an excuse saying he might have been busy from working as that department was already flooding with people.

( Didn’t Marcus get my message?)

The next day, the same thing happened and the next one, Sterling grew inpatient. He wondered if it was Vivienne who was turning down to meet him or Marcus was the one that didn’t give her the message.

He summoned Assistant Mike to the office again and this time, Sterling spoke instead of giving the signal.

“Didn’t you pass my instructions to Marcus?” he asked as soon as Assistant Mike stepped inside the office.

“I did, Mr. Hawthorn.” He bowed his head.

Assistant Mike knew Sterling was going to react soon enough. He still went to Marcus place the previous day but Marcus told him he was busy with works.

He tried to warn him of the outcome of his actions if he doesn’t do what Sterling want but Marcus laughed and waved him off.

Maybe he thought the world was revolving around him since he was already the head of the new department without fighting for it.

Others that fought for the other departments are doing whatever it would take them to keep their jobs.

But Marcus was playing with it as he got it for free.

“I passed the message to him, Mr. Hawthorn and I reminded him yesterday too.” he said.

But Sterling was surprised. If Mike told him and still reminded him yesterday, then what was stopping him from bringing her?

Was it Vivienne that doesn’t want to come or what? Sterling thought.

“Go get Marcus for me.” he commanded.

Assistant Mike bowed his head and hurried out of the office.

He returned back to her Majesty’s department and still found Marcus in his office making a call.

“I’m telling you, dude. I got this job without working for it. Can you just believe it?” he laughed sarcastically ignoring Assistant Mike who was standing there.

“Mr. Marcus, you should drop the phone and listen to me,” Mike said but he ignored him.

“Like seriously? Why don’t you come over to the company in the next few days with your resume? I think I’ll create a spot for you in the department.” he chuckled.

“Yea that’s fine. I can even make you my PA.” He knocked the desk, laughing like a fool.

“Good dude, I’ll be expecting you. And don’t forget to give me a call before you come.”

Marcus turned to Assistant Mike who was standing erected in front of the desk.

“What do you want again, Assistant Mike? I thought I already told you to give me some time as I am so busy right now.” He reminded him what he has been telling him since three days ago.

Assistant Mike sighed inside. Marcus didn’t know what he was trying to do to himself.

If he should report back to Sterling what Marcus has been saying, then that would be an end of him in that company.

“I’m not here to remind you Mr. Hawthorn’s order, but to warn you of the outcome of this.” Mike dropped his hands on the desk.

“If you don’t bring Vivienne to Mr. Hawthorn today, you should cry with yourself for losing your job.” Assistant Mike turned his back and left the office.

Seeing the look on Assistant Mike’s face, Marcus was scared to the Marrow.

Was he going to lose his job? Maybe he was only pulling his legs.

But was Mr. Hawthorn going to fire him for not heeding to his instructions?

Marcus grabbed his car keys. There was no way he would allow his stupidness to cause him his job.

He already boasted to almost everyone in the family and all of his friends. And worse, Pure Heart Entertainment would be the first to laugh on his face.

The people present in that department were confused to see Marcus almost running out of the department.

No one knew what was wrong with him or what Assistant Mike said to him that was making him act that way.

Marcus left the company to Vivienne’s place but unfortunately, she wasn’t at home.

He tried calling her phone but Vivienne wasn’t answering.

“Great!” he exclaimed. “This is the end of my stay in that company.” He patted his head.

But who was he to blame if he lose the job? Himself of course.

Marcus sat on the steps, waiting for Vivienne to return. He wasn’t going to leave that place until he sees Vivienne with his eyes.

“What are you doing here?” she heard a soft voice beside him.

Marcus lifted up his head and leapt to his feet thinking God for bringing Vivienne back at that moment.

“Where have you been to and what happened to your phone?” Marcus asked her, helping her with the bags she was holding.

“Went shopping and my phone’s on silent.” She unlocked the door and they went inside.

Vivienne untied the scarf on her face and heaved a sigh of relief. It was such a hectic day for her.

She has been out there since morning, shopping for expensive dresses, cosmetics and skin care products.

She dropped on the sofa then looked at Marcus who was still standing there looking at her with a hint of worry in his eyes.

“Did you lose your job?” she asked him, crossing her legs.

“On the Verge of losing my job, Ms. Vivienne.” he shook his head.

“What! Don’t you even dare lose your job, Marcus. What do you want me to do if you lose your job? Do not forget, I was being considered by Sterling himself because of you.” she reminded him.

Marcus sighed deeply. He sat on one of the sofas and held his head in his hands.

“You have no idea what I’m trying to put myself in to now. Can you believe because I have been feeling big lately as the new head of the department, I ignored Mr. Hawthorn’s order?”
